1. Types of Information We Collect
We may collect two types of information from users of our Sites and Services: “Personal Information,” which is information that you provide that can be used to identify you (such as name, email address, account numbers, etc.), and “Aggregate Information,” which is information that cannot be used to identify you (such as frequency of visits to the Site, browser type, etc.)
If you choose not to provide us with certain information you may not be able to take advantage of certain features of the Services.
1.1. Personal Information Collected
1.1.1. We collect Personal Information you provide to us when you use our Sites and Services Including your name and your email address. Your Personal Information may be supplemented with additional information regarding your activities across the Services. To the extent that such additional information is linked specifically to you using Personal Information that identifies you, we will treat that additional information as your Personal Information, while and when such additional information is linked to you.
1.1.2. If you choose to share information publicly through our Site or Services please understand that we cannot control the actions of third parties who could collect this information.
1.1.3. How Personal Information Is Used
1.1.4. The Personal Information you provide is used to allow us to provide you the Services. We may also use provided Personal Information to improve the content and community experience of the Services, customizing the advertising and content you and other users and prospective users see, and communicate with you about BabelBark’s products and services, including specials and new features. Further, we may also use Personal Information for the internal operational, product development, and administrative purposes of the Service.
1.2. Aggregate Information Collected
1.2.1. Aggregate Information is information that does not identify you. Aggregate Information may be collected when you visit our Sites or interact with our Services, independent of any information you voluntarily enter. Further Aggregate Information may be created or derived from Personal Information. We may collect, use, store, and transfer Aggregate Information without restriction.
1.2.2. For example, we may collect information (“Log Data”) created by your use of the Services. Log Data may include information such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, the referring web page, pages visited, location, your mobile carrier, device and application IDs, search terms, and cookie information. Under certain circumstances Log Data may allow us to identify you, in which case it will be treated as Personal Information.
1.2.3. Further, when you visit our Site, some information is automatically collected. Such information could include your operating system, the site from which you linked to us (“referring page”), the name of the website you choose to visit immediately after ours (called the “exit page”), information about other websites you have recently visited, browser (software used to browse the internet) type and language, device identifier numbers, your site activity, and the time and date of your visit. Although we do our best to honor the privacy preferences of our visitors, we are not able to respond to Do Not Track signals from your browser at this time.
1.3. Use of “Cookies”
Cookies are alphanumeric identifiers that we transfer to your computer’s hard drive through your web browser to help us identify you when you come to our Site. You have choices with respect to cookies. By modifying your browser preferences, you have the choice to accept all cookies, to be notified when a cookie is set, or to reject all cookies. If you choose to reject all cookies you may be unable to use those aspects of our Sites that require registration in order to participate. Doing so, however, may disable certain features on our Sites. 1.5. Interest-Based Advertising
1.5.1. We may also participate in interest-based advertising using similar technology. This means that you may see advertising on our Sites tailored to how you browse or shop, or you may see advertising for BabelBark and its properties on other websites based on your browsing behavior across websites. Some websites where we may advertise belong to ad networks that use your web browsing history to choose which ads to display on their network websites; these ads include advertising for BabelBark and its Sites. Other websites where you see our ads, such as Facebook, may use interest preferences that you have chosen on those sites, as well as registration and other information about you, to choose which ads to display to you. Some internet browsers, websites such as Facebook and mobile devices offer opt-outs for interest-based advertising. 1.5.2. You can opt-out of receiving interest-based ads from third parties who are members of the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) or who follow the Digital Advertising Alliance’s Self-Regulatory Principles for Online Behavioral Advertising by visiting the opt-out pages on the NAI website (http://www.networkadvertising.org/choices/) and DAA website (http://www.aboutads.info/choices/).
2. Sharing of Personal Information with Third Parties
2.1. Marketing: We may share your Personal Information with third parties for the marketing purposes of the third party. If you are a California resident, please see the “Your California Privacy Rights” section.
2.2. Third Party Service Providers: We may transfer Personal Information to third parties for the purpose of providing the Services. We may disclose Personal Information to our affiliates or third party service providers to provide you with the Services. For example, we may transfer your Personal Information to third party service providers to (i) assist with providing the Services, including as further described below, and (ii) communicate with you about current or future offerings. Unless otherwise stated, these third party service providers are not authorized to retain, share, store or use the Personal Information for any purposes other than to provide the services they have been hired to provide.
2.3. Third Party Businesses: We anticipate that we may become associated with a variety of third party businesses and work closely with them. In certain situations, these businesses may sell items to you through our Services. In other situations, BabelBark may provide services, or sell products jointly with these third party businesses. You can recognize when a third party business is associated with your transaction, through the display of a logo identifying the third party, and we will share your Personal Information that is related to such transactions with that third party business.
2.4. User Profiles and Submissions: Certain user profile information and data about your use of the Services containing Personal Information, including, your name, your dog’s name (and breed, gender, and other information you have provided), activity goals, other users with whom you’re connected, your location, and any video or image or other data and content that has been uploaded to the Services, may be displayed to other users to facilitate user interaction within the Services or address your request for our Services. Some such data and information (including without limitation, your first name, your dog’s name and profile information, activity goals, “friends” and their dogs, activity comparisons with your friends, and uploaded posts and content) may be displayed publicly to other users of the Services by default; your account privacy settings allow you to control whether your account appears publicly in searches by other users. Please remember that any content you upload to your public user profile, or do not specify as non-public through the functionality of the Services, along with any Personal Information or content that you voluntarily disclose online in a manner other users can view (in social media posts, on discussion boards, in messages and chat areas, etc.) becomes publicly available, and can be collected and used by others. Your user name and any other information you choose to include may also be displayed to other users if and when you send messages or comments or upload images or videos through the Services and other users can contact you through messages and comments. Additionally, if you sign into the Services through a third party social networking site or service, your list of “friends” from that site or service may be automatically imported to the Services, and such “friends,” if they are also registered users of the Services, may be able to access certain non-public information you have entered in your user profile. Again, we do not control the policies and practices of any other third party site or service.
2.5. Other Transfers of Personal Information: We may also elect to transfer your Personal Information to third parties to: (i) to comply with a legal requirement, judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process served on BabelBark; (ii) to investigate a possible crime, such as fraud or identity theft; (iii) in connection with the sale, purchase, merger, reorganization, liquidation or dissolution of BabelBark; (iv) when we believe it is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of BabelBark or other persons, (v) as otherwise required or permitted by law, including any contractual obligations of BabelBark, or (vi) with your consent.
3. Your California Privacy Rights
3.1. California residents who provide personal information in obtaining Services are entitled to request and obtain from us once a calendar year information about the personal information we shared, if any, with other businesses for their own direct marketing use. If applicable, this information would include the categories of customer information and the names and addresses of those businesses with which we shared customer information for the immediately prior calendar year (e.g., requests made in 2016 will receive information regarding 2015 sharing activities).
4. Canadian Users/Visitors
4.1. Canadian citizens, except under circumstances defined by law, are entitled to access their own Personal Information collected by BabelBark by writing to: BabelBark, Inc., 125 Greenwood St, Newton, MA 02459, USA. We may ask you to pay an administrative fee for accessing or copying your Personal Information, but will inform you of the anticipated charges and confirm that you want us to proceed before processing your request. If you believe that the Personal Information about you that we have collected is incomplete or inaccurate, we will correct the information upon verification of the omission or error and of the identity of the person requesting the change. If you wish to request additional information about our information management, or would like us to access, correct or have us investigate any matters in relation to your Personal Information, please contact us.
5. How Does BabelBark Protect My Information?
5.1. We take the security of your Personal Information very seriously. We use reasonable administrative, physical, and technical safeguards to secure the Personal Information you share with us. Despite these safeguards and our additional efforts to secure your information, We cannot promise or guarantee that hackers, cybercriminals, or other unauthorized third-parties will not be able to defeat our security and improperly collect, access, steal, or modify your Personal Information.
5.2. Any email or other communication purporting to be from one of our websites asking you to provide sensitive information via email, should be treated as unauthorized and suspicious and should be reported to us immediately by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org .
6. What Personal Information can I access?
6.1. BabelBark allows you to access Personal Information about you for the purpose of viewing, and in certain situations, updating or deleting that information. This Personal Information may include the items below, and will change as the Services changes.

7. What choices do I have?
7.1. As stated previously, you can always opt not to disclose information, even though it may be needed to take advantage of or register for certain features of the Services.
7.2. You are able to add or update certain information, such as those listed in the “What Personal Information Can I Access” section above. When you update information, however, we often maintain a copy of the unrevised information in our records. We may use any Aggregated Information derived from or incorporating your Personal Information after you update or delete it, but not in a manner that would identify you personally.
7.3. You may request deletion or inactivation of your BabelBark account by sending an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note that some information may remain in our records after deletion of your account.
7.4. From time to time we may send you administrative and promotional emails. If you wish to opt out of promotional emails, you may do so by following the “unsubscribe” instructions in the email.
8. Children and Privacy
8.1. Our Services are not directed to persons under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect or maintain personally identifiable information from persons under 13 years of age. If you become aware that your child has provided us with personal information without your consent please contact us at email@example.com . If we become aware that a child under 13 years of age has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to remove such information and terminate the child’s account.
9.1. We may revise this Policy from time to time. The most current version of the Policy will govern our use of your information and will always be at www.babelbark.com/privacy. We will notify you of any material changes to this Policy by posting the revised policy at www.babelbark.com/privacy. You are advised to periodically review this page to ensure continuing familiarity with the most current version of our Policy. Any changes to our Policy will become effective upon our posting of the revised Policy. By continuing to access or use the Services after those changes become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Policy.
